Bishop’s Move, the UK’s largest privately owned removals and storage company, has invested in a number of vehicles to bolster its already established fleet and help reduce the company’s carbon footprint.
Two new 3.5 sprinter vans have been purchased for use at the Leeds and Wokingham branches, and the Ely depot is expecting a new six-pallet truck by the end of September.
The Edinburgh branch has also already received a new three-pallet van expanding the number of its fleet to fourteen vehicles.
The Birmingham branch also took delivery of a new five-pallet truck in August, increasing its fleet size to five vans including a new Mercedes Benz Sprinter vehicle.
Costing over £200,000 and representing a significant upgrade from older vehicles, the new vans offer improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions, underlining Bishop’s Move’s commitment to good environmental practice.
This investment comes on the back of other significant initiatives from Bishop’s Move to enhance its efficiencies, including a decentralisation programme which has so far saved the company £95,000. From an environmental perspective, removing the majority of its vehicles from central London has enabled Bishop’s Move to make its contribution to reducing pollution in the capital. Using localised depots has meant vehicles are often undertaking shorter journeys to reach their destination, thus further reducing the company’s carbon footprint. Bishop’s Move estimates its fuel consumption has fallen by 1,000 gallons in 12 months – the equivalent of running twenty HGV-sized vehicles continuously for a month.
Commenting on the purchases, Bishop’s Move Chairman, Roger Bishop said: “Investing in top quality equipment such as these vans ensures we are able to continue the professional service we offer our domestic and corporate customers. It also demonstrates our willingness to do all we can to help improve environmental efficiencies on our business.”
